What is precast?

2023-04-25

Many may not have heard of the term “precast,” but in the construction world it is an industry standard
Precasting generally refers to the process of pouring concrete into formwork and then allowing it to set before being moved to its final location

The process of precasting concrete structures typically involves pouring the concrete into formwork which is designed to hold it until it has set enough to stay in the formwork without any need for additional support. Concrete is poured into formwork that is then set into place in an outdoor location, such as a construction yard or on a site where the structure will be erected. The formwork is generally made up of steel, concrete and other materials. The formwork takes the shape of the final structure.
